Industry and agriculture

The industry of the region includes 5 companies:

• Yelsk Furniture Plant
• Timber Industry Company

• Construction Materials Works
• Tinned Food Factory

Yelsk Furniture Plant, the largest organization, specializes in production of natural wood furniture, chairs and tables. The plant employs about 600 people.

Yelsk Tinned Food Factory, representing the processing industry of the region, manufactures tinned fruit and vegetables.

The agricultural industry embraces 6 municipal agricultural unitary companies and 7 agricultural production cooperatives.

The region is engaged in production of milk, meat, grain, potato, beet, maize and vegetables.
